Llope , Geary Eppley , Ted Nussbaum , jschamba@physics.utexas.edu Subject: message on test requirements on deliverables to judge project completion Requirements on delivered trays: 1. tray total HV current < 50 nA (for 32 MRPCs) 2. Max noise rate in any one MRPC channel = 50 Hz (~2.5 Hz/cm^2) 3. Max number of dead channels = 12 per tray all three of the above specs are checked first at UT before the trays are shipped to BNL, and then the measurements are repeated at BNL after shipping. successful completion of these requirements judged at latter test at BNL... for trays installed in star during the construction project and used during runs 7 or 8... 4. total timing resn spec: Au+Au min bias: 90 (+) 55 = 105ps average variance +/- 15ps d+Au min bias: 90 (+) 85 = 125ps average variance +/- 15ps these specs for 4. assume the present pVPD, not the upgraded start detector. assuming the upgraded start detector as well: Au+Au min bias: 90 (+) 45 = 100ps average variance +/- 15ps d+Au min bias: 90 (+) 65 = 110ps average variance +/- 15ps requirements on the delivered start system. 1. all pmts respond to cosmics, with pulse height for cosmics >500 mV for HV <= 2100 V. 2. max pmt leading-edge rise-time < 10ns -- _________________________________________________________ W.J.
